My Blue Hawaii co*cktail Will Transport You To Paradise
I love tropical co*cktails like Pina Coladas and pineapple margaritas.
Another of my favorites is the Blue Hawaii. I first had it at beach bar while in Delaware, and knew I needed to recreate it at home.
No summer plans?
No problem!
This Blue Hawaii co*cktail will transport you straight to a place with pale white sand and softly crashing waves. It tastes like the tropics with delicious pineapple and coconut flavors. The blue color is also gorgeous! Doesn't it look just like the blue waters of the ocean? So gorgeous!
It perfect for relaxing after work, pool parties, BBQs and patriotic holiday gatherings like the 4th of July.
💙Why I Love This Drink💙
- Easy Breezy: No fancy equipment or blender required! It will be ready faster than a cabana boy could bring it over!
- Only 3 Ingredients (plus ice): Easy to find, and great to keep on hand.
- Adjustable: Make one drink or a whole pitcher. A good rule of thumb is to multiply your ounces by the number of people you're having!

- Flavor: Bright orange with a slightly bitter finish

- Use Leftovers In: Blue Lagoons, Blue Margaritas, Sex in the Driveway, or my Fish Bowl Drink
Mix It Up
You can also use vodka instead of rum if that's what you have on hand.
🥥Krystle's Tips🥥
- Chill: Chill all ingredients as well as your glass for an icy cold drink.
- Glass: This co*cktail is typically served in a hurricane glass.
- Pineapple Ice: Avoid a watered-down drink by making pineapple juice ice cubes.
- Shake Shake Shake: You can use a co*cktail shaker, a mason jar, or even a travel mug. Whatever you have is fine as long as everything gets mixed together. We are not fancy here!
Tropical Glass Idea
For a tropical vibe: use a hollowed-out coconut or pineapple.

Fun Variations
Frozen: Instead, of adding ice at the end, combine all ingredients in a blender with ice. Add more ice for a slushier co*cktail, and less ice for a thinner drink.
Swimming Pool: Add cream of coconut.
Punch: Serve a crowd by using ½ bottle each of rum and blue curacao with around 2 cups of pineapple juice.
What is the Difference Between a Blue Hawaii and a Blue Hawaiian?
The Blue Hawaii is typically mad with pineapple juice and served over ice. A Blue Hawaiian on the other hand has a stronger coconut flavor thanks to cream of coconut. It is often served blended instead of over ice as well.
How Strong Is This Drink?
This drink is around 22 proof or 11% ABV. It is equal to a little less than 1 standard drink.
Why Is My Blue Hawaii Green?
It comes down to the color of your pineapple juice. If your juice is very yellow in color it can combine with the blue curacao to appear greener in color. To fix try adding a little more blue curacao or blue food coloring.

This co*cktail is a must try before summer is out! It is simple to put together. The only part I changed, was I strained the co*cktail from the shaker, pouring it over fresh ice in the glass. Perfect co*cktail to sip on during a hot day in August. Thank you for this lovely recipe!Reply
Yay, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing your tip.

The first time i had this was more than 15 years ago on Macinac Island. I LOVED it! Next time I had it the bartender accidentally made me a Blue Motorcycle instead. Not the same. Not at all! This is so much better! Love having the actual recipe for this. It's so YUMMY!Reply
