Kurt Caz is a popular travel YouTuber.

He has more than 2.6M subscribers on his eponymous YouTube channel.

Introduction-

Kurt Caz was born in April 1998 into a middle-class family in South Africa.

He grew up in South Africa and hails from the picturesque Jeffreys Bay town near Plettenberg Bay in South Africa.

Kurt’s father was a German, an adventurer, a traveller,a street fighter and a brown belt judo master and he taught boxing in a police academy in East Germany.

Thanks to his father, he learnt fighting at a young age and has been training boxing since 4.

Kurt’s mother is a South African.

He has dual citizenship of South Africa and Germany.

Kurt has an elder brother and a younger brother.

Love for travel & being street smart-

As a teenager, Kurt along with his father and brother travelled around southern Africa.

This was his first proper trip and thanks to this trip, he developed a passion for travelling.

Kurt later uploaded this video onto his YouTube channel.

He grew up in South Africa in an environment which required him to keep his head on a swivel and this later proved helpful when he started visiting dangerous places.

Kurt also developed foresight and learnt to read people and their body language.

Thanks to all these, he has been able to safely travel in dangerous places.

Travelling across Europe & MMA-

Kurt despised school and so, dropped out of it.

Then, he moved to Germany in search of a job but as he didn’t like jobs there, he moved to the United Kingdom.

His friends living in the UK suggested he work as a plumber in the UK but as it didn’t work out, Kurt moved back to Germany.

Later, Kurt shifted to Southern France and started working on boats.

Likewise, he lived in Southern France for a year.

His employer in France was into MMA and had a black belt in judo and a brown belt in jiu-jitsu and he inspired Kurt to get into MMA.

He trained in MMA for five years and became proficient in kickboxing, jiu-jitsu and wrestling but stopped MMA after starting vlogging.

His YouTube channel-

On 13 March 2016, Kurt started his eponymous YouTube channel.

In his first video, he can be seen searching for a kitchen job in London streets but currently, this video is unavailable on his channel.

Even before starting his YouTube channel, as a kid, Kurt used to shoot random videos with his brother and friends and shooting videos has been his creative outlet.

Later, he learnt video editing on his own.

Being unsuccessful-

Later, Kurt shot some videos in Italy and other countries but as his videos weren’t interesting, they didn’t get decent views.

Even sharing his videos with all his Facebook contacts, couldn’t get him decent views.

Even after working on his YouTube channel for a year, Kurt couldn’t become successful.

Moving back to South Africa-

Before moving back to South Africa, Kurt was working as a garden boy for a cleaning company in Berlin, Germany.

Here, his job involved cutting grass and cleaning staircases which he hated.

Even during that time, Kurt didn’t quit working on his channel.

He moved back to South Africa after his father passed away and started working on his uncle’s farm.

Quitting his job for YouTube & becoming successful-

Kurt was frustrated with his farm job and hated it, so, he decided to quit it and start travelling and producing videos for his YouTube channel.

He travelled to Egypt with his savings and produced a few videos there which fortunately became viral.

His first video to cross a million views, ‘$4 Haircut and Facial’ was published on 25 October 2020.

Egyptian influencers shared this video on Facebook and some YouTubers also shared this video and Samy, a German rapper shared this on Twitch and thanks to all these, this video got viral.

His other videos of Egypt, ‘Avoid This Man! Cairo Market Scam’ and ‘Avoid These Scammers At The Pyramids!’ also became viral and each crossed a million views.

Thanks to these viral videos, he became a successful YouTuber and never looked back again.

As of January 2024, he has 2.66M subscribers on his eponymous YouTube channel, 213K followers on Instagram and 1.1M followers on his Facebook page.

Kurt earns from advertisem*nts, sponsorships, and ‘Super Thanks’ on his YouTube channel.

He has a website.

Kurt uses a Sony α7 IV camera to shoot videos.

Martin helps him as a manager and his younger brother, Tom helps him as a cameraman for his YouTube channel.

His YouTube inspirations-

He observed that his videos weren’t performing well as they weren’t interesting.

Kurt stumbled upon the videos of Harald Baldr and bald and bankrupt and got inspired by their videos and so, started following their style of making videos interesting.

Eventually, he developed his own style of making videos.

Early struggles-

Initially, while travelling in Egypt, Mexico and Colombia, Kurt survived only on a few hundred dollars.

During that time, his brother used to support him financially.

At that time, Kurt used to also work as an online editor for some rappers.

But later, as his videos on YouTube gained traction, he became a full-time YouTuber.

A million subscribers & depression-

After hitting a million subscribers on his eponymous YouTube channel, Kurt felt that he had accomplished everything.

And grew depressed as he felt that he had nothing more to work towards.

Kurt also got tired and started feeling unfulfilled by producing similar kinds of vlogs and felt a desire to level up and evolve.

During that time, he also broke up with his girlfriend.

Finally, thanks to his love for video production, Kurt decided to continue working on his YouTube channel.

In addition to his eponymous YouTube channel, he has a couple other YouTube channels namely, ‘Kurt Caz Conquest,’ and ‘Kurt Caz en Español.’

Kurt started these channels in order to break the monotony of working on his primary YouTube channel.

An adrenaline junkie-

Kurt is an adrenaline junkie and loves travelling to dangerous places.

He loves such places and finds the white picket fence neighbourhoods to be boring and depressing.

Kurt regularly ends up in adventurous places and shows only a portion of it on his YouTube channel.

Kurt was in a relationship with Marianny Dey.

She is also a YouTuber and has an eponymous YouTube channel.

Kurt is a polyglot as he knows English, Spanish, and German.
