Bloomberg Chairman named Leading Global Champion for Women in Business
by WIN Edit Team GDI News
NEW YORK – For the fourth consecutive year, Bloomberg Chairman Peter T. Grauer has been recognized as a leading advocate for women in the workplace, ranking as one of the top senior leaders on the2020 HERoes 50 Advocate Executiveslist who are creating a more inclusive business environment for women.
According to the awarding committee for the HERoes recognition, “Grauer is a leading force behind advancing gender equality and diversity in the workplace.”
“Peter’s dedication to gender equality is helping make the business community more diverse and inclusive, and it’s great to see his work recognized for the fourth consecutive year. All of us at Bloomberg are committed to doing our part to end discrimination and inequality, and we’re lucky to have Peter helping to lead our efforts,” said company founder Michael Bloomberg.
The HERoes awarding committee wrote: “Under his leadership, Bloomberg’s Gender Equality-Index, which tracks the financial performance of public companies committed to supporting gender equality, saw a -40% increase in companies included in 2020 vs 2019. In 2020, Bloomberg expanded Girls take Finance to London to provide career opportunities to women in business, finance and technology. Bloomberg also provided corporate support for “This Changes Everything,” a documentary which dives deep into the topic of gender equality and pay equity in Hollywood. With Grauer’s help, Bloomberg’s Buy-side Network was launched, becoming the first community for women in the asset management industry in Asia.”
“The fostering of a diverse and inclusive work environment at Bloomberg is a hallmark of Peter’s leadership. He recognizes that advancing gender diversity and equality is not only the right thing to do, it also gives us, and other businesses who advance women in leadership roles, a competitive edge and results in better business decisions,” said Pamela Hutchinson, Bloomberg’s Global Head of Diversity & Inclusion.
The committee added: “Outside of Bloomberg, Grauer is the founding chairman of the US 30% Club, creating initiatives focused on increasing the pipeline of female talent, and he has served as a mentor with the Catalyst Women On Board initiative.”
