Season 2 of DBZ Kakarot has finally arrived after a long period of waiting. Many players, including us, are very excited to see a kick-off starting with Bardock, the father of Goku. Just like any previous DLC, you can be sure that this one too will provide the same quality, experience, as well as size and this one actually has some things that does better than Trunks.

In this review, we will be going over all of the things that the Bardock DLC has to offer and what rank is it in the overall DLC list. Let’s get started.

DBZ Kakator – Bardock DLC Review

Price

The Bardock DLC on its own costs $30 and it is the absolute same price as the previously released Trunks DLC. It is an overall good price, however by some might be seen as high, it still has a lot of things to offer and the replayability is actually pretty high with this one as well. It seems as though the devs are pushing players to get the Season Pass which is a bit of a gamble.

Review As You Play Through The DLC

Bardock DLC Review — DBZ Kakarot - Item Level Gaming (2)

Bardock DLC has a lot of good things going for it. It has the same level of production quality as the previous DLC and that is a very good thing. The voice acting is superb, the music will make you feel as though you are part of the world, and the storytelling is just like the base game as well as the Trunks DLC, which is very wellpaced and interesting.

For the storytelling aspect, there are 3 levels of cutscenes that span from the dialogue basic ones as well as the very badass ones that will make you jump from your gaming chair!

Soon after you start the game will drop you onto planet Vegeta. This is the first actual new area that we’ve gotten through a DLC in Kakarot. The previously added maps in Trunks are basically nothing compared to this one at all. They were barren, empty, and barebones, while this time, there’s a whole lot to explore with a lot of details added to it.

You’ll see buildings, NPCs actually walking around, space pods flying about, and very interesting vendors and collectibles too! It even has fishing as well as side missions!

This DLC has a ton of new medals that you can use for your community board that you can come across from the new fun side activities and quests. They are fun and have quite a bit of variation to them making you actually go around and look for them.

Something that can be felt lacking is that Bardock isn’t actually portrayed as the evil character that you might have expected while traveling around. The disregard that exists for alien life is somewhat scared to be shown by the devs in the DLC.

Then after a while, you are going to leave Planet Vegeta and surprisingly you will be introduced to another new map that has the same love and care as the previous one. Here you will see the real character of the Sayans as well as a big twist of events that will make you shocked by some very badass moments that Bardock will do. We don’t want to spoil anything, but you’re going to love it.

On the new planet, you will get a new mechanic of actually attacking a new planet and attacking the natives that live on it. You can go around and fly up and about to be able to weaken it first by doing various things, and then to be actually able to destroy it.

You are able to actually directly go into a battle and face up to 800 enemies at once! It is a very good thing that the game actually gives you the choice to do this. It is very badass and rewarding, but after a while, you’ll be using the same mechanics over and over again and it might come as tiring.

The thing about it is that you’ll be going through these group encounters a lot in the DLC, and with a fairly short story, it doesn’t end up being all that fun. Also, a lot of the fights are going to be against the same group of enemies.

There are a ton of unique boss encounters and one even on a brand new planet too. You will even get to see Frieza First Form as an enemy! This is one of the best boss fight that you will encounter in the entire game.

Without spoiling anything, however, there are very cool moments at the end of the DLC. You are going to love them and although they are fairly short, they are very memorable and you won’t expect them at all.

Summary

Bardock is a fantastic DLC that comes very close to Trunks The Warrior Of Hope, and maybe for some people it even tops it off! If you were a fan of the first DLC, you will definitely love this one as well. We highly recommend that you give it a try not just for the last surprising moment, but because it truly deserves it.
